FFA Greenhouse - Final Plant Sale

The Whiteford FFA greenhouse will hold its final plant sale of the 2019 season from now until it closes on Sunday June 2nd.  Prices have been reduced anywhere from 30%-50% on all items in the greenhouse.  They still have a great selection of annuals, vegetables, perennials, in a variety of hanging baskets, patio planters, flats, and 4” pots.

Proceeds will help to fund FFA projects, conferences, and conventions for FFA members.

Prices are below:

  • Hanging baskets and pouches are now $8 each.
  • 12” Patio planters are now $12 each or 2 for $20
  • 4” pots are now $2 each or $25 for a flat of 15
  • 48 count flats of flowers and veggies are now $8 or $1 per 4 cell pack.  Mix and match.
  • Wood planters are now $25 each
  • 6” perennials are now $2 each. 

Greenhouse hours are:

  • Monday-Friday--9 am to 6 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday—9am to 4 pm
  • Memorial Day—9 am to 4 pm

**Go to the large parking lot between the high school and elementary.  The greenhouse is east of the bus garage. Follow signs.

They accept cash or check.  Checks should be made payable to Whiteford Schools and should include a phone number on them.

Girls Basketball Camp

The 2019 Whiteford Girls Basketball Camp will be held on June 3-5, 2018 from 3:00 - 4:30 PM.  Registration is open to girls in the 2nd - 8th grades.  The cost is $40.00 and the deadline to register is May 24th in order to receive a T-shirt.  Open registration will be accepted until June 3rd.  Click HERE for registration form.

Final exams are scheduled as follows (pending no weather delays/closings):

  • Seniors:  May 22-24, 2019
  • Grades 6-11:  June 5-7, 2019

Back-to-School Health Fair

The Monroe County Health Department is hosting a "Back-to-School Health Fair" on Saturday, August 17th from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.  Limited appointments are available.  Please call 734-240-7800 to make an appointment.  See flyer for details.

Backpacks for Kids in Monroe County

The Salvation Army is again coordinating a program called "Supplying Our Future" Backpacks for Kids in Monroe County. See FORM for the upcoming school year.  Forms are due by July 19, 2019.

Completed forms can be turned into the school district business office or to The Salvation Army at 815 East First Street, Monroe, MI 48161 (fax: 734-241-7181).

If you have any questions, would like to participate in one of the back-to-school events or are in a financial position to assist with this program, The Salvation Army would be happy to hear from you. Feel free to contact them at 734-241-0440.

FFA Greenhouse is Open!

The Whiteford FFA Greenhouse is now open for the season and will stay open until Sunday, June 2nd.  The greenhouse offers a great selection of annual flowers, vegetables and some perennials.  Plants are sold in a wide variety of hanging baskets, flats and patio planters, including homemade planter boxes.   Gift certificates are also available in any denomination.  Hours for the greenhouse are as follows:  

  • Weekdays:   9 AM – 6 PM
  • Weekends:  9 AM – 4 PM  
  • Mother's Day:  9 AM - 4 PM
  • Memorial Day:  9 AM – 4 PM
  • Closing Day:  Sunday, June 2nd

All About STEM Day

The US Patent and Trademark Office is hosting an "All About STEM" day at the Detroit Public Library (5201 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI) on Saturday, May 11th from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The National Inventors Hall of Fame will be providing hands-on STEM activities that are fun for all ages! The cost is FREE; registration is not required, but it is encouraged.

Transportation Request

Important information regarding bus transportation for next school year (2019-2020) was sent via email to those homes in which the district has an address on file. If you did not receive the letter and form via email, please click HERE to obtain a copy of the letter/form. Forms are due back no later than June 1st. Digital Empowerment for Parents

On Tuesday, April 16th from 6:30 - 8:30 PM, an important and informative session will be held in the elementary cafeteria on how to keep your children safe in the digital age. Parents of children of all ages will benefit from Mr. Frank's presentation. He is retired from law enforcement (internet crimes against children division) and is now committed to educating parents and staff.  We hope you can join us for this important presentation.  See flyer for additional details.

Schools of Choice Enrollment Period Begins

Applications (see below) are now available for individuals interested in the Monroe County Schools of Choice Program for the 2019-2020 school year.  The enrollment period runs from April 1, 2019 - June 28, 2019 and applications must be submitted to the resident district (not the choice district).
